Miranda & John are getting married!

My sister is getting married! So for them I did 2 really fun and very different engagement sessions. One in St. Augustine and the other at an old Girl Scout camp that is now a public park. My sisters and I were Girl Scouts for a while and this place always brings back awesome memories. I can almost smell the campfire & s’mores, and of course hear the singing of the repetitive, but fun songs we would share around the fire.

I’m so happy for these two! I’ll let the images show how amazing and sweet they are together!

Jen & Colby + 1 ~ Alpine Groves and Hannah Park Jacksonville, Florida

I photographed Jen and Colby over the holidays while I was in Florida. I did 2 sessions for them because it was completely overcast the first day. The evening light is super important to me and the look that I want the photographs to have. I always joke about my motto being “Backlight it all and call it a day.”

Jen and Colby have since welcomed their little baby girl, and I am so happy for them! Here they are: the first set is actually the second session at Alpine Groves where we got the perfect light that I was after. The second was taken half in their home and half at Hannah park.

I accompanied my sister in law and her very sweet, happy, and energetic daughter to a horse farm and had a blast! I really love horses, but I would never want any of my own, so any chance that I get to photograph them, I am more than excited.

Last spring I went out with the Lewises and took pictures at one of my favorite locations ever. I have shot there so many times and you would think I would be over it, but that is just not the case! I love these guys and we thought it was time to head out to “The Truck” for a session.

I’ve been in the Sunshine State since Thanksgiving hanging out with family and doing quite a bit of shooting. I have done a couple amazing sessions and of course, lots of pictures of Desmond. Here are a few I’ve been wanting to share.

My dear friend Jen. She is the photographer that did my Florida maternity session and I am so excited to have been able to return the favor. She’s so stunning and will soon be holding a sweet baby girl in her arms!

And little Desmond, starting to eat bananas, he is just so full of personality.

A year of catching up ~ part IV ~ Jen & Colby in St. Augustine, Florida

Back in The Sunshine State for the holidays last Christmas, in one of my fav cities, St. Augustine. I’ve known Jen for a long time, she is super dear to me, and just so happens to be an amazing photographer! She has photographed us 3x in the past year: just Jeremy and I, my maternity session, and our first family session when Desmond was a month old! All of her images are so awesome and bring back some of the best memories of this year and last.

They are expecting their first baby at the end of the year, and I am SUPER excited for them. I’ll be taking her maternity photos soon! So excited! She and her husband Colby are super adorable in front of the camera, lots of cute moments and giggles. Love these guys!

A year of catching up ~ part III ~ Sequoia & Yosemite National Parks

Last fall, after the amazing trip to Aspen, my parents came out for a visit and we all drove up to Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks. It was SO great to get out of Los Angeles, and not just an hour away, 5ish hours away. I finally realized that what everyone had been telling me about California “being so beautiful” was actually true. I’m so glad that I got to take this trip. I really needed it after coming back from Aspen and being bummed out about being stuck in not so beautiful Los Angeles.

Who would have thought that these trees could get so big. I’m amazed looking back at all these pics. The day we spent in Yosemite was quite interesting. It rained almost the entire day, but there were some really awesome clouds scattered around. Then, at the end of the day, for about 10 minutes the sun broke through the clouds just before it set. It was pretty heavenly, and also amusing to see a few other photographers (myself included) scrambling around to grab a couple shots of what “we had been waiting for all day!” Great memories!

The Sequoias had a really spongy bark, not at all what you would expect.
“What we had been waiting for all day!” The sun peaked through and hit the Half Dome and through all the trees. Amazingness!
